Hello, I'm Beverly! I'm a traditional media artist and illustrator, as well as a writer. As an illustrator, I mainly use watercolor, colored pencils, and alcohol markers. As a writer, I focus mainly on children's picture books and young adult literature. My favorite genres are fantasy and historical fiction!

As an African American author, I'm very passionate about representation in the art community. As a young child I loved the fantasy genre but I could never see myself in those stories and peers around me often reinforced that fantasy was not for people like me. Consequently that led me to think I could never write it and no one would want to hear any stories made by someone like me.

Thanks to the encouragement of my family, I didn't give up on my dream and now I am working to create encouraging spaces for young artists and writers. My lifelong goal is to write compelling stories and create art that touches lives and inspires the next generation to share their stories too!
